A Day Of Bike Shopping

I had no idea. Yep, that's all I can say after a crazy day spent at 2 different bike shops looking for that perfect deal. Finally after doing some serious searching online, checking all the facts, I think I have my decision. Of course this is all subject to a few test rides and a few other things.

I decided on the Trek 1.2 triple gear model. It seems to offer the best bang for the buck and has some top end components at a very reasonable price. So, here's to me getting lucky enough to have this sooner than later!

Ah, The Rain Makes Me Miss The Snow

You know, part of me was excited when they were calling for that super cold, severe winter with lots of snow and cold temperatures. Unfortunately, it seems that was only for a few days.

We are back to our normal 50 and raining pattern followed by a few days of really cold, dry weather. It's winter in the north sound area. Maybe someday, there will be another "big" some storm here, like in 1985, but I'm not going to hold my breath for it.

For now, I'm just happy that it's not too cold to use my touchscreen.

Its not babysitting...

Okay, I agree but isn't watching a child, yours or not, still babysitting? I mean, I am not a babysitter at work, but most days it seems that way.

Watching Evie alone is one of the most exciting things for me to do on the planet. We play, we blog, we eat and did I mention play yet? She brings a bit of joy into an otherwise mundane day of confusion at work, stresses at home and just the monotony that life becomes.

So call it watching my child, babysitting or anything you want, but I will call it amazing and it's something I'd like to do a lot more often.

Piles...

Some people look quickly at the photo above and see a pile of trash. It's not until they look a bit closer that they see the little things. The cool lines, amazing textures and the little kitty.

I just want to remind everyone to stop and look for the little kitty in every 'ugly' picture. Sometimes the best things are hidden in some kind of ugliness.

Winter, football and issues...

As winter comes back to Seattle, I find the Seahawks in the playoffs and the Eagles out. Fair? No, but neither is life. We have had some challenges this month, dealing with becoming a single car family, stupid apartment management, and the usual day to day stuff we all have to deal with. Fortunately, it only takes a moment like the photo above to remember why we struggle.

It's not for a big house or a nicer car. It's not for a bigger TV or faster computers. It's not even for our own personal gains, but for those that have to look up at us until we pick them up, dust them off and tell them that it will all be ok.

A Super Cold Morning

The ride to work was amazing this morning. Yes, the 20-something degree morning froze me to the bone, but the beauty of it also amazed me.

Sometimes we get too busy or are caught up in our circumstances to look at the amazing beauty directly in front of our eyes. These images were simple trees that were painted with a touch of ice crystals. It was amazing.

Even more more amazing was the fact that I was able to shoot these incredible shots from my phone. So hopefully, you will appreciate the little things in front of you when you see them here.

Children and Their Moods

I have to say that kids make life fun again. No matter what happens in the world, the smile of a child can change your mood instantly.

Sometimes we forget that life is too short to worry about things. It often takes that special moment when you see a smile, a laugh, a tear, or a simple glimpse of wonder on a child's face, to remember what a special gift life is. It takes the thought of losing someone close to you to make you truly appreciate what you have.

The new year makes me grateful to have been surrounded by so many special people last year. Knowing these people will hopefully lead to more people that make life better by just knowing them.

So to all the people that came in to our lives this year, thank you. And to all those we will meet soon, welcome!

What a Great Day

So I so Slacker off while hanging out in the 23 degree weather at the farm today. I was out there to help reattach the sheep shelter to the base that it happened to be removed from a few weeks ago during a good windstorm.

This would normally be pretty weird for me to say, but it really was fun being out in the cold, sliding on frozen sheep poop, pushing aluminum tubing back into shape.

Hopefully, the final repairs we make next weekend take and it becomes a more permanent temporary structure, but if not just call on me again for the quick fix. I'll be sure to get some photos to post next weekend though, unless its still too cold of course.
